Licensing In a Nutshell
A license is an agreement between two parties which gives a person or group of people (the licensee) the rights to market a product or service using the trademark of another business (the licensor).
The licensee has the rights to market the product or service using the operating methods of the licensor. The licensee has the obligation to pay the licensee certain fees and royalties in exchange for these rights. The licensor has the obligation to provide these rights and generally support the licensee. The licensor has a vested interest in the success of the brand and keeping their customers happy.
Business Format Licensing
Business format franchising offers a variety of services to the licensees. The licensor provide the licensee use of trademarks and logos, as well as a complete system of doing business. They will assist the licensee with business setup and design, product supply, management, advertising and marketing, business systems, training and more.
The licensee pays a once of licensee fee and agrees to pay continuing royalties to the licensor that help the licensor provide research, development and support for the entire system.
There are many examples of business format licensing, including – fast food restaurants, automotive services, estate agents, convenience stores, recruitment agencies, hairdressers etc.
The type involves two characteristics:
The licensee sells goods or services which meet the licensors quality standards (in cases where the licensee operates under the licensors trade mark, service mark, trade name, advertising or other commercial symbol designating the licensors (”mark”) or which are identified by the licensors mark;
The licensor exercises significant assistance in, the licensees method of operation
How does Dr. Fish Spa Therapy License Work
- Complete our straight forward license application form which we can walk you through
- We will send you two copies of the license document, once your happy sign both and send them back to us, we will then have them signed keep one copy for our records and send you the other for your own personal records.
- You then pay the once off license fee via money transfer, or credit card
- We then start the consultation process, send you all our support material, guide you on tank setup and specifications and arrange the shipping and arrival of your fish.
- We will then guide you closely through your operation, via phone, email and our online support center.
The License Fees
Licensee pays a once off license fee, we can then negotiate your annual fee which is typically 10% of the upfront license fee.
(We are offering annual 1% fee, thats as little as $60 a year for 5 years, to licensees who sign up before December 31st 2009, to take advantage of company tax credits for tax year ending Dec 31st 2009)
